Power Rank Progression

Energy Projection is one of the most diverse mutation categories in existence. While every Energy Projector manipulates a different form of energy, most follow a similar progression as their powers develop.

Whether your mutation manifests as fire, lightning, plasma, force, light, sound, radiation, cosmic energy, or some entirely unique phenomenon, increasing your Power Rank reflects greater control, output, and versatility.


Rank 1: Spark

Emerging Potential

The mutant has only recently begun to manifest their powers.

At this stage, energy generation is limited and often requires concentration.

Capabilities:

  • Create small energy effects.

  • Fire basic energy blasts.

  • Illuminate an area.

  • Power small devices.

  • Cause minor damage.

Examples:

  • A fire projector can ignite paper.

  • An electrokine can power a lightbulb.

  • A sonic mutant can create a painful burst of sound.

Range:

30 feet.

Damage:

1d10 + Power Modifier.


Rank 2: Channel

Trained Control

The mutant has developed reliable control over their powers and can use them in combat with confidence.

Capabilities:

  • Sustained energy blasts.

  • Greater range.

  • Improved accuracy.

  • Limited defensive applications.

  • Minor area effects.

Examples:

  • Creating small walls of flame.

  • Generating electrical arcs between targets.

  • Producing force shields.

  • Projecting concentrated beams.

Range:

60 feet.

Damage:

2d10 + Power Modifier.

Special:

May affect two adjacent targets.


Rank 3: Surge

Established Hero

The mutant's powers become a major force on the battlefield.

New applications begin emerging beyond simple attacks.

Capabilities:

  • Powerful ranged attacks.

  • Significant area effects.

  • Energy shaping.

  • Defensive barriers.

  • Sustained power use.

Examples:

  • Firestorms.

  • Chain lightning.

  • Sonic shockwaves.

  • Plasma lances.

  • Hard-light constructs.

Range:

120 feet.

Damage:

4d10 + Power Modifier.

Special:

Area attacks become available.


Rank 4: Cataclysm

Extraordinary Power

The mutant possesses abilities capable of affecting entire city blocks.

Their powers become feared and respected by even experienced heroes.

Capabilities:

  • Massive destructive output.

  • Large-scale energy manipulation.

  • Environmental effects.

  • Energy flight.

  • Multiple simultaneous attacks.

Examples:

  • Calling down lightning storms.

  • Vaporising armoured vehicles.

  • Creating enormous force fields.

  • Producing city-block-wide sonic effects.

Range:

Line of sight.

Damage:

10d10 + Power Modifier.

Special:

May affect entire encounter zones.


Rank 5: Omega Projection

Force of Nature

The mutant's energy output reaches legendary levels.

At this point, they are no longer merely projecting energy.

They are becoming its living embodiment.

Capabilities:

  • Regional-scale effects.

  • Near-limitless projection.

  • Precision and devastation combined.

  • Environmental transformation.

  • Signature world-changing abilities.

Examples:

  • Creating continent-spanning storms.

  • Generating solar-level heat.

  • Producing city-sized force fields.

  • Manipulating vast quantities of energy simultaneously.

  • Reshaping entire battlefields.

Range:

Several miles or more.

Damage:

15d10 + Power Modifier.

Special:

Gain a unique Omega Technique approved by the GM.

Examples:

  • Planetbreaker Beam

  • Solar Nova

  • Absolute Lightning Storm

  • Worldsong Resonance

  • Infinite Force Construct

SPECIALISATION

As an Energy Projector advances, they naturally develop a signature style.

Two Rank 5 Energy Projectors may possess completely different capabilities despite sharing the same category.

For example:

A Fire Projector may specialise in:

  • Heat

  • Explosions

  • Flight

  • Flame Constructs

An Electrokine may specialise in:

  • Lightning

  • Magnetism

  • Technology Control

  • Speed Enhancement

A Sonic Mutant may specialise in:

  • Shockwaves

  • Flight

  • Illusions

  • Resonance Effects
