Ashkan "Ash" Loneblade

Special Instructor in Fieldcraft and Survival

Ashkhan "Ash" Loneblade serves as the Arcadian Institute's Special Instructor in Fieldcraft and Survival, teaching students the practical skills needed to navigate challenging environments, adapt to difficult situations, and remain effective when removed from the comforts of modern life.

A highly experienced outdoorsman and survival specialist, Ash is responsible for many of the Institute's advanced field exercises, wilderness training programmes, and practical survival courses. His lessons focus on self-reliance, adaptability, observation, and resilience, encouraging students to develop confidence in their ability to overcome adversity.

Unlike many members of staff, Ash prefers the quiet of the wilderness to the bustle of classrooms and meetings. Students often encounter him leading expeditions into forests, mountains, and remote environments, where learning takes place through experience rather than lectures. His teaching style is direct, practical, and occasionally demanding, but few students question its effectiveness.

Known throughout the Institute for his independent nature, Ash has a reputation as something of a loner. He is rarely seen at social events and tends to keep his personal life private. Despite this reserved demeanour, students quickly learn that he possesses a strong sense of loyalty and an unwavering commitment to those under his care.

Ash places great importance on preparation and personal responsibility. He frequently reminds students that confidence is earned through experience and that true resilience comes from learning how to adapt when things do not go according to plan.

Many students initially find him intimidating. He speaks plainly, expects effort, and has little patience for excuses. However, those who earn his respect often discover a mentor who is fiercely protective of his students and deeply invested in their success.

Outside of formal lessons, Ash is often found exploring the grounds surrounding the Institute, maintaining outdoor training areas, or preparing future field exercises. His extensive knowledge of navigation, wilderness survival, tracking, and expedition planning makes him one of Arcadian's most valuable practical instructors.

Students who complete his courses leave with far more than survival skills. They learn self-confidence, perseverance, and the importance of remaining calm when facing the unknown.

Ash's philosophy is simple:

The world does not always give you ideal conditions.

Learn to thrive anyway.

At Arcadian Institute, few instructors better embody resilience, independence, and determination than Ashkhan "Ash" Loneblade.
