Regeneration Game Mechanics

Power Rank Progression

Regeneration is the ability to recover from injury, illness, and physical trauma at superhuman speeds.

While many mutants focus on avoiding damage altogether, Regenerators possess a different kind of power. They endure. They recover. They survive.

A Regenerator can withstand injuries that would hospitalise ordinary people and return to the fight moments later. As their powers develop, their bodies become increasingly difficult to permanently harm.

For some mutants, Regeneration is simply accelerated healing.

For others, it becomes a near-supernatural force that constantly rebuilds them faster than the world can tear them apart.

As with all powers, mastery brings both incredible advantages and unique challenges.

Rank 1: Accelerated Recovery

Emerging Potential

The mutant heals noticeably faster than an ordinary human.

Cuts close quickly, bruises fade rapidly, and minor injuries rarely remain for long.

Capabilities:

  • Recover from minor injuries quickly.

  • Reduced recovery times.

  • Improved resistance to fatigue.

  • Faster healing between encounters.

Regeneration:

1 Health Point per round

Special:

Gain a +2 bonus on saves against disease and poison.

Examples:

  • Cuts heal within minutes.

  • Bruises disappear within hours.

  • Minor injuries rarely leave scars.

Rank 2: Rapid Healing

Trained Recovery

The mutant's healing factor becomes powerful enough to influence combat situations.

Wounds that would disable most people begin closing almost immediately.

Capabilities:

  • Heal moderate injuries rapidly.

  • Resist blood loss.

  • Recover quickly from physical trauma.

  • Maintain activity despite injury.

Regeneration:

3 Health Points per round

Special:

Automatically stabilise when reduced below 0 Health.

Examples:

  • Knife wounds close rapidly.

  • Broken bones heal within days.

  • Significant injuries become manageable.

Rank 3: Combat Regeneration

Established Hero

The mutant's body actively repairs itself during battle.

At this stage, opponents begin to realise that simply damaging the Regenerator may not be enough.

Capabilities:

  • Recover from severe injuries.

  • Continue functioning despite major wounds.

  • Resist long-term physical damage.

  • Heal while actively fighting.

Regeneration:

5 Health Points per round

Special:

Ignore the first Injury Penalty suffered during an encounter.

Examples:

  • Bullet wounds close within seconds.

  • Broken bones heal within hours.

  • Severe lacerations vanish during combat.

Rank 4: Biological Restoration

Extraordinary Recovery

The mutant's body approaches the limits of biological possibility.

Even devastating injuries can be overcome with time.

Capabilities:

  • Regrow lost limbs.

  • Regenerate damaged organs.

  • Recover from catastrophic injuries.

  • Resist extreme environmental damage.

Regeneration:

10 Health Points per round

Special:

Lost limbs, eyes, organs, and other body parts can fully regenerate.

Examples:

  • A severed hand regrows.

  • Destroyed organs reform.

  • Massive injuries heal completely.

Regrowth Time:

Typically hours or days, determined by the GM.

Rank 5: Omega Regeneration

The Undying

The mutant's healing factor becomes one of the most feared powers in existence.

Their body rebuilds itself at such incredible speed that permanent injury becomes extraordinarily difficult to inflict.

Capabilities:

  • Near-instant recovery.

  • Massive trauma survival.

  • Extreme resistance to death.

  • Continuous biological restoration.

  • Regeneration under almost any circumstances.

Regeneration:

Recover 50% of all damage suffered during the previous round at the end of your turn.

Special:

If reduced to 0 Health, automatically begin regenerating unless destroyed by a method specifically capable of negating Regeneration.

The mutant may recover from injuries that would kill virtually any other living being.

Examples:

  • Massive wounds close almost instantly.

  • Crushed bones reform rapidly.

  • Organs regenerate during combat.

  • Survival of otherwise fatal injuries.

Only a handful of mutants in history have ever reached this level.

THE LIMITS OF IMMORTALITY

Despite popular belief, Regeneration is not true immortality.

A Regenerator still feels pain.

They can still suffer.

They can still be overwhelmed.

The difference is that their body refuses to surrender easily.

Some Regenerators view their power as a blessing.

Others see it as a burden that forces them to endure experiences no one should survive.

THE EVOLUTION OF SURVIVAL

Regeneration is unique among mutation categories because its greatest strength is not what it allows a mutant to do.

It is what it allows them to endure.

A Rank 1 Regenerator recovers quickly.

A Rank 3 Regenerator heals during combat.

A Rank 5 Regenerator becomes a nightmare for their enemies and a symbol of hope for their allies.

Because no matter how many times they fall...

They always get back up.
