Caretaker of Angel Island

Among the many staff members and residents associated with the Arcadian Institute, few are spoken about with as much curiosity, affection, and uncertainty as Puffin.

Officially, Puffin serves as the caretaker of Angel Island, the secluded island sanctuary located just beyond the main campus grounds. In practice, however, his role is difficult to define. Depending on who you ask, he is a groundskeeper, naturalist, storyteller, conservationist, guide, teacher, or perhaps something else entirely.

For generations of students, Puffin has been a constant presence around the island's forests, cliffs, beaches, and hidden paths. He is known for his deep connection to the natural world and his seemingly endless knowledge of the island's wildlife, history, and folklore. Students often joke that there is not a single stone, tree, or bird on Angel Island that Puffin does not know personally.

Some claim he arrived at the Institute decades ago. Others insist he has been on Angel Island for far longer than anyone can explain. New students quickly learn that asking direct questions about his history rarely results in direct answers.
